Expert Service and Fittings
Bicycle repair is a craft. It takes knowledge in both older & emerging technologies, and years of trial & error for a mechanic to hone their skills. Even then, continual learning is required to maintain excellence.
Randy, owner and head mechanic, attended Barnett's Bicycle Institute (BBI) in Colorado Springs, where he was trained and tested in rigorous exams. He is Barnett's Certified in bicycle repair, overhaul and suspension. He is also a certified bike fitter with the Fit Kit System.

Suspension Service and Tuning
Bicycle suspension systems are far more maintenance intensive than any other system on your bicycle except the chain and tires, all of which need some form of service on a weekly basis. |

 |
- Shock pressure should be checked weekly: If you have any loss in pressure your shock has a leak and needs to be brought in for an overhaul which will include replacement of all the o-rings.
- Your shock should be serviced every 100 hours of riding.
For the casual recreational rider this could mean service every two years minimum. For the average rider, once a year may be fine and for the enthusiast or racer it means up to three times a year. Whatever level you fall under, simple maintenance can prevent catastrophic damage or expensive repairs down the road.
Basic Oil Change:
Over the course of time oil will brake down as well as become contaminated. Once this happens the components will wear much faster (o-rings and bushings). Consistent oil changes (every 100 hrs) can prolong the life of these internal parts for years.
Sliders are removed (and any other necessary components) and all oil is drained from the shock. Fresh oil is put in.
Price: $45.00 (plus parts)
Complete Overhaul:
A complete overhaul is necessary when a shock is either malfunctioning (example: Not holding air, no lockout function, etc.) , o-rings are deformed or cracking (this would be noticed during an oil change). During a complete overhaul the shock is broken down to “bare bones”. All parts are thoroughly cleaned and inspected and then the shock is rebuilt with fresh o-rings, seals and oil. Bushings will also be replaced if necessary.
Price: $90.00 (plus parts)
Bike Fitting
We use the Fit Kit Systems for professional fittings. Arguably the best-known bike fitting system in the world. It takes precise body measurements with special instruments, then a full geometry analysis is calculated with Fit Kit's proprietary software and charts.
A professional bicycle fitting will help you get your bicycle fine tuned to the proportions and condition of your body. Whether you are seeking a retrofit on your existing bicycle or are looking for a new bicycle, a properly fit bike can help any rider, from the casual recreation cyclist to the seasoned racer. The benefits include:
- Improved comfort
- Reduced chance of injury
- Increased performance
Two fittings are offered to accommodate any type of rider:
Quick Fit:
Recommended for casual cyclist, we call it quick because we take four basic measurements, assess your physical condition and goals, and then determine a safe, developmental starting position for you.
Price: $30.00
Performance Fit:
For serious riders /racers this includes all of the above as well as three additional measurements which help dial in the bike a little tighter. Also included is the use of a *rideable adjustable stem and cleat fitting to your shoes.
Rideable adjustable stem:
Allows you to experiment and fine tune your final handlebar position. Recreational riders can find their most comfortable position, performance riders can find the most aerodynamic position with high power output, and mountain bikers can adjust their weight distribution on the bike while working through rough terrain. When you consider a good stem on average can cost more than $60 it is worth getting it right the first time!
Cleat Fitting (R.A.D or Rotational Adjustment Device):
"Float" in a pedal mechanism and cleat does not eliminate the need for correctly aligning the cleat. "Float" is the amount of angular movement built into a pedal mechanism or cleat and needs to be adjusted around the rider's rotational center, i.e., the point at which the leg (knee, hip and ankle) is at its naturally rotating center. Every rider has a rotational center about which the leg will naturally rotate. Without proper cleat alignment, the leg will still want to rotate to its natural position, but the cleat-pedal mechanism will prevent it, causing rotational stresses on the knee, hip or ankle. These stresses show up in any number of these four ways:
- Difficult entry and exit into the pedal system
- Premature release from the pedal during a sprint on a road bicycle
- Premature release from the pedal while finessing a mountain bicycle through difficult terrain
- Stress related injury to the knee, hip or ankle
Price: $100.00
***Stem is available for use during fitting for above price. It can also be rented for $30 per day.***
R.A.D (Rotational Adjustment Device for cleat installation):
If you feel the overall fit and feel of your bike is good but your cleat alignment may be off or you just purchased a new pedal system. We also offer the R.A.D adjustment separately.
Price: $30.00
